A2 drone exam questions and answers: what to expect
Understanding question structure and dominant topics is half the battle. Here is a practical breakdown of the EASA A2 theoretical knowledge assessment.
Question format
All questions are multiple-choice with one correct answer. Wording follows EASA Part-UAS and Delegated Regulation (EU) 2019/947 terminology — not simplified hobby-drone language.
You cannot return to change answers once submitted in the official exam. Practice with locked-answer simulators to build the right habit.
Topic distribution
- Meteorology — typically 8–10 questions
- Technical knowledge — batteries, components, performance
- Operational procedures — pre-flight, emergency, lost link
- Airspace and regulations — open category A2 subcategory rules
- Human factors — stress, fatigue, decision-making
Sample question themes (not verbatim)
Expect scenarios about flying in wind near uninvolved persons, correct LiPo storage voltage, interpreting METAR/TAF snippets, and minimum distances in the A2 subcategory.
Avoid memorising isolated facts — understand why the correct answer is right. Explanations after each practice question build that depth.
